Rules have now been published.

Significant Changes:

  1. General Procedures - Those details not relevant to the rules of the competition, such as organisational information, have been removed. These will now be contained within the entry information for the competition.
  2. General Conditions for Pool Competition - DQ7 has been updated to align with ILS Competition Rule Book.
  3. Swimwear - This section has been completely re-written and now aligns with the ILS Competition Rule Book.
  4. Obstacle Swim, Manikin Carry - “Finish edge” has been updated to “finish wall”.
  5. Rescue Medley - “Finish edge” has been replaced with “finish wall”; “turning edge” replaced with “turning wall” and the diagrams have been updated to show distances for 12-14 year olds.
  6. Manikin Carry with Fins - “Finish edge” has been replaced with “finish wall” and “turning edge” replaced with “turning wall”.
  7. Manikin Tow with Fins - “Finish edge” has been replaced with “finish wall”; “turning edge” replaced with “turning wall”; DQ38 has been removed and the following rule has been added to align with the ILS Competition Rule Book: Competitors may not go back into the 5 m zone to fix the tube correctly after a DQ.
  8. Super Lifesaver - “Finish edge” has been replaced with “finish wall”; “turning edge” replaced with “turning wall”; DQ15 has been added; the wording of DQ17 has been updated to be consistent throughout the rules; DQ38 has been removed and the following rule has been added to align with the ILS Competition Rule Book: Competitors may not go back into the 5 m zone to fix the tube correctly after a DQ.
  9. Line Throw - “Finish edge” has been replaced with “finish wall”.
  10. Manikin Relay - “Finish edge” has been replaced with “finish wall”; “turning edge” replaced with “turning wall” and the judging criteria within the start, changeover and finish zones has been updated.
  11. Obstacle Relay - “Turning edge” replaced with “turning wall”.
  12. Medley Relay - “Finish edge” has been replaced with “finish wall” and “turning edge” replaced with “turning wall”.
  13. Line Throw Relay - “Rope” has been replaced with “line” and “Finish edge” has been replaced with “finish wall”.
  14. Pool Lifesaver Relay - “Turning edge” replaced with “turning wall”.
  15. ILS Equipment Standards - The rescue tube flexibility, O-ring position and overall length details have been updated. A new note has been added to the swim fins section. The throw line wording has been updated. All updates are in line with the ILS Competition Rule Book.
  16. Disqualification Code Summary - This has been updated to be consistent with the rules.

RLSS UK National Speed Lifesaving Championships will return to Sheffield for the 2019 championships.

Ponds forge will play host to the 2019 championship on 16 & 17 March 2019.
