Family fun weekend to launch new water safety partnership
The Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) are delighted to announce Channel Kayaks as a new water safety partner and to mark the occasion, Channel Kayaks have announced a whole weekend of fun on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 April.
The new partnership is cause for a double celebration as Channel Kayaks also announce The Boathouse, Bath as their new launch base:

Working in partnership with RLSS UK, secures our proactive approach to water safety practices and advice, whilst also providing the opportunity to raise vital funds for their drowning prevention work.”
To mark the start of the partnership with RLSS UK and their new home at The Boathouse, they have a weekend jam-packed of fun activities on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 April.
Overlooking the River Avon, The Boathouse is situated just outside Bath where guests can enjoy the atmosphere of a traditional country pub, complete with comfy rooms, picturesque garden and a delicious menu.
It is the perfect venue to host Channel Kayaks family fun weekend, featuring games and activities with a water safety focus, the chance to meet the Air Ambulance team and even try your hand at a river bank life-saving rope throw rescue!
The more adventurous might like to take to the water on one of the Channel Kayaks ‘KataKanus’ for an accompanied short trip along the river, which will also help to fundraise for RLSS UK.
Channel Kayaks believe that kayaking should be great fun and accessible to everyone; opening up a world of adventure and natural beauty through safe, high-quality, instructor-led kayaking events.

The Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) is the drowning prevention charity. Around 400 people drown in the UK every year and the RLSS UK aims to prevent drowning through water safety education.
RLSS UK is the UK’s leading provider of training and education in lifesaving, lifeguarding, water safety and life support skills in the UK. It is also the governing body for Lifesaving Sport.
Through its trading subsidiary, IQL UK, there are more than 90,000 RLSS UK Pool Lifeguards in the UK trained in the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ). Around 95 per cent of all pool lifeguards are trained by the RLSS UK.
RLSS UK awards and programmes teach a range of lifesaving skills ranging from life support (CPR) to water survival and rescue skills. Programmes include Rookie Lifeguard (for eight to12-year–olds), Survive and Save (for 12 years+) and Save a Baby’s Life (a free course aimed at parents and carers of young children).
The RLSS UK (then the Life Saving Society) was formed in 1891. In 1904, as there was great support for the organisation from the Royal Family, the society was granted permission to use the Royal title and became the Royal Life Saving Society.
Drowning Prevention Week is the national campaign run by the Royal Life Saving Society UK to cut down the number of accidental drownings that occur each year and support families affected by drowning. The next campaign will run from June 15 – 25, 2018.
