Water Safety At Home

The Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) is the Drowning Prevention Charity and the UK’s leading provider of water safety and drowning prevention education.

Around 400 people needlessly die from drowning in the UK every year and thousands more suffer injury, some life-changing, through near-drowning experiences. Putting these figures into context one person dies every 20 hours in the UK and drowning is the third highest cause of accidental death of children in the UK.

RLSS UK is the leading provider of training and education in lifesaving, lifeguarding, water safety and life support skills in the UK, and also the governing body for Lifesaving Sport.

RLSS UK Members and Volunteers are an essential and valued part of the ongoing delivery of water safety education and lifesaving skills, ultimately helping to reduce the number of people drowning.

Individual Members – Gift Aid it

If you haven’t already, please do Gift Aid your RLSS UK membership fees (for example, complete the Gift Aid declaration on the back of your membership renewal letter and return in the freepost envelope provided).

Gift aid is a government scheme that allows charities to reclaim tax from the HM Revenue & Customs (at no cost to the donor). If an individual is a UK taxpayer and makes a RLSS UK Gift Aid declaration, RLSS UK can reclaim basic rate tax on their RLSS UK membership fees and donations (25p for each £1 given). For example, this means that RLSS UK can turn a £20 membership fee into £25 (at no additional cost to the member). It is a key way for RLSS UK to raise additional income via the HMRC, and this can then be reinvested into charity products, campaigns and our valued network of deliverers, supporters and volunteers. The RLSS UK team are working on new Gift Aid forms and processes to make it easier for members to Gift Aid their membership.
