How will employers deal with a new employee who does not have PXB on their NPLQ qualification?
As part of induction training an Operator should identify training needs and provide training in the use of the PXB. This could be included as part of an induction and/or competency test. (PXB Trainer Assessors have access to the PXB Assessment Record on the RLSS Direct resource area).
Can I obtain an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) if I pass my NPLQ?
If the NPLQ Trainer Assessor is a qualified RLSS First Aid Trainer, then they can assess the EFAW content and complete the relevant paperwork. To gain the EFAW qualification the course Trainer Assessor must have purchased the NPLQ and EFAW candidate pack that contained the assessment report form for NPLQ and EFAW.
Are the RLSS adding a Tourniquet bolt on module to FAW?
Not at the moment, if demand increases then we will look at this for the future.
I have been asked to teach a course for 3 candidates where English is not their first language. Can I get the question bank translated?

How do I convert a STA Lifeguard qualification to NPLQ?
If you hold a valid STA Pool Lifeguard you can use this as 9 hours of Approved Prior Learning (APL).
Where candidates wish to claim APL, they MUST provide course trainers with original qualifications [photocopies WILL NOT be accepted] prior to the start of the course.
Candidates must have completed a minimum of 27 hours of training and be able to provide written evidence of:
- Attendance at all sessions
- Having completed all the skill and knowledge areas and completed exercises in ‘The Lifeguard’ manual
- Having undergone continuous assessment of their progress throughout the course
